Thomas Reed is the primary witness in the September 1 1969 Berkshire UFO incident, one of the most widely reported UFO sightings in Massachusetts history. As a child, Reed reported multiple encounters with unidentified aerial phenomena, including a 1966 bedroom sighting and the 1969 incident near Sheffield's Old Covered Bridge, where he and his family observed a disc-shaped object hovering.

Reed's testimony gained renewed attention through the Netflix series Unsolved Mysteries (Season 1, Episode 5 “Berkshires UFO”) and he has been instrumental in establishing the Thom Reed UFO Park in Great Barrington. He has participated in numerous interviews and maintains that his experiences were real but often sensationalized by media.

Reed has been featured in articles by MassLive, Men's Health, Marie Claire, and The Boston Globe, and his story is archived by the Great Barrington Historical Society as a “significantly historic and true event.”
