Key figure in the Belgian UFO wave investigation
Major General Wilfried De Brouwer (retired) is the former Chief of Operations of the Belgian Air Force and the primary military official responsible for investigating the 1989‑1990 Belgian UFO wave—one of the most significant radar‑visual UFO cases in European history.
During the wave, which involved over 140 sightings of large triangular craft, De Brouwer coordinated radar tracking, F‑16 intercepts, and gendarmerie patrols. He initially suspected the objects might be experimental American aircraft, but after receiving no confirmation from U.S. authorities, he publicly stated that the phenomena remained unexplained.
De Brouwer has since become a leading advocate for serious scientific investigation of UAP. He contributed an exclusive chapter to Leslie Kean’s book UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record and has spoken at the National Press Club, the Society for Scientific Exploration, and numerous documentaries.
His testimony is frequently cited in discussions of government transparency, radar‑visual cases, and the need for international cooperation in UAP research.
